1. I forgot my password, can you help me to retrieve my data?
No, there is no backdoor to StealthDisk so there is nothing we can do. Without the configured password, there is no way to gain access to your data. Always make regular backups.
2. I can enter only two characters for my password. Why is that?
The evaluation version of StealthDisk is limited to 2 characters for the password. If you have purchased a license, go to the Tools area and import your personal license. You can now create StealthDisk volumes with passwords up to 64 characters. You can also change your current volume passwords to one that is longer than 2 characters.
3. Which file systems are supported?
StealthDisk volumes can be formatted in FAT, FAT32 or NTFS.
4. Can I burn StealthDisk volumes onto CD-R or DVD+-R/RW?
StealthDisk volumes can be burned onto any type of recordable media including CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW. Since the files will be read only, StealthDisk volumes will have to be mounted as read only as well. You will be able to read and access all data in the volume but not write to it.
5. Which algorithm should I use for the best speed?
All our algorithms are optimized for the best possible performance. However, some will perform slightly better than others. Our performance analysis shows that Blowfish-128 and Blowfish-448 perform equally well and slightly faster than AES-128 and AES-256. AES-128 is slightly faster than AES-256.
